Afterglow

The Lord had been talking to Pastor Mike about giving the Holy Spirit more room. As a result, Pastor Mike decided to use the afterglow (the time after the Wednesday evening service where we would sing two more worship songs) to educate those who are interested about spiritual gifts and how they are used in the church, including practical application. He used the first evening to introduce the idea, the second evening to introduce the gift of encouragement and last time, he was talking about all the gifts of the Spirit.

When Pastor Mike shared that he is looking for people who want to pray with faith for the attendees something resonated in me (Chris). Therefore, I wrote him a message that I would like to join. From the first time, I could clearly feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in a very intense way (as in ready for action). Although everything is still in the beginning, the Lord has been doing great things. Since we started to attend the afterglow, Satan has been attacking us. I take that as a confirmation that we are on the right track and that he is clearly not happy with what we’re doing. It’s good to know that our God is greater!

Ministry Updates Anja

  • Fit 2 Serve – Starting in April, Fit 2 Serve will be on Friday evenings instead of Tuesday evenings. We barely had anyone coming on Tuesdays and there has been an increase in actives on that day, which is why I was asking the Lord if we should change the day. Since I am working on Friday afternoon and there is only one activity for young adults on that day, it seemed like the perfect choice, which the Lord confirmed. I have been sending out personal invitations on Facebook Messenger, which is used by almost everyone here. I am praying and hoping that more people will join.
  • German Classes – I have one student that I teach German to. She is really excited and enjoying the class a lot and so am I. I am trying to be as practical as possible, teaching her entire sentences she can apply in everyday life, but also the theory as we are looking at those sentences.
  • Work Day – It has been over a month since I started to work on Friday afternoons. My project I have been entrusted with is preparing MP3s of our sermons for Spotify. This includes downloading videos from YouTube, cutting off unwanted pieces like intro music, altar calls, etc., making a part 1 and part 2 as well as adding an intro and and outro (I haven’t received those yet). It’s a lot of work that requires a lot of precision when it comes to cutting, but I won’t be able to complain about not having enough to do ;-D

  • New Glasses for Chris and Ziva – Chris had been complaining about not being able to see well, so we went to Tijuana to get him a new pair. It turned out that his right eye had gotten worse and also, that his glasses had only 70% protection from screens. We went for blue-ray with 100% protection this time. Chris suggested to have Ziva’s eyes tested as well and it turned out that she has astigmatism and should be wearing glasses for watching TV and activities that require her to focus.
  • Renewing Ziva’s Permanent Residency Card – It was only a formality, but we had to renew Ziva’s permanent residency card because it’s only valid for a year when the child is 3 years old by the time it is issued. We were able to get her card without any problems and from now on, it is valid for four years until she is 18. This means that we will have to renew it four more times.
  • Rain, Rain and More Rain – The weather has been very Swiss lately: Lots of rain and at all times of the day or night, including low temperatures. That also lead to slippery roads (we live on a dirt road with an incline) and power outages. One time, it was Chris’ workday, he managed to hook up our old car battery to the router to keep it going until the electricity came back on.

Prayer requests

  • for health (backs Chris and Anja, cold Ziva and Yuna)
  • for protection from Satan’s attacks
  • for faithful attendees for Fit 2 Serve
  • for the kids in our class to get saved
