Afterglow

It took some time to figure out how we should do our Afterglows (the time after the Wednesday service for extended worship and Pastor Mike’s teaching on Spiritual gifts), but soon a minimal structure was established. In every Afterglow, we look at a different Spiritual gift. So far we looked at the Gift of Prophecy, the Gift of Faith and the Gift of Healings and the Gift of Miracles. Every time, we have time to ask for the gift we just heard about. We do a little exercise to practice it and we are given homework so we can apply the gift outside of the church. Towards the end of the afterglow, the ministry teams pray for the people who would like to receive prayer. We started off with two teams, but a lot of people wanted prayer, so we have five teams now. Chris is part of one of the ministry teams and Anja is usually with the worship team. Since we started the afterglow, both of us seem to pray more for people inside and outside of the church.

Fit 2 Serve

The first of the Friday Roadshows started with me learning that my coach could not longer be a coach. The worst part about it is that I only found out because I sent him a message asking if he was coming because it was close to the time we start. So far, only one person attended the workout. I am praying for another coach and for more attendees. I sent out a lot of invitations to let people know that our workouts are now on Fridays, and some said they would come.

Family News

  • Anja gave both girls a hair cut. Yuna’s hair just didnt’ look nice anymore and Ziva had trouble brushing her hair and she always had a lot of knots in them. So far, Ziva never wanted to cut her hair, but after Anja cut Yuna’s hair, she asked Ziva if she wanted a hair cut as well and she agreed.
  • We have been taking the girls for walks in our neighborhood so they would get some fresh air and get some energy out. It seems like both of them are excited about playing with rocks, climbing up small hills, visiting the horses and getting cookies from the corner store on the way home.
  • After 1.5 years of our owner asking the city to connect our trailer to the city water, they finally did. The pipes had been in the street already, but didn’t lead to the trailer. Unfortunately, they removed all of the firm parts of our driveway, covered it up with loose dirt and left he valve completely uncovered, which meant we had to drive around it, which was extremely difficult. They also didn’t add connect the house to the pipe. The owner ended up paying someone to cover the valve and to connect the trailer to the city water. We are curious to see how much money we will be saving now! Another plus is that we will always have the water reservoir in case the city decide to save on water and turn it off for a couple of days (which they do sometimes).
  • We have been experiencing a LOT of power outages recently. We are not talking about one or two a day, but one every couple of seconds for a couple of hours. We have no idea what is going on. Unfortunately, Ziva is afraid of the dark and it happened a couple of times that she woke up in the night in complete darkness because the power was out and started screaming. She also slept in our bed in between which is not very restful.
  • The time had come for Samson to be neutered. When we picked him up, they handed Samson to us in his carrier. He was laying on the plastic grit and below, the carrier was filled with pee and we didn’t notice at first. By the time we arrived at home, he was drenched! Of course he couldn’t clean himself yet and we didn’t want to shower him, so we just wrapped him in a towel to dry. Fortunately, he recovered fast and is doing well.
