Update on Chris’ Light Projects
Just in time for the church planting conference, pretty much all the projects were finished. The only one unfinished was the youth room, where the fog machine wasn’t working anymore after only two times of use. Fortunately, the person who ordered it for me had a look at it and could get it working again. Combined with the new software for the light controller, the youth has now a nice upgrade to their light system, so they can even go a little wilder…
For the rest of the month I was holding back on light projects to focus more on my first ministry: the family
At the zoo At the mall At a wedding
Update on Anja’s Spotify Project
Since we finished the preparations for the launch of the church’s Spotify page, I have been updating it every Sunday with the latest sermon. It takes me less than an hour to do that, so it’s not that big of a deal.
What about the sermons that we are not using for Spotify? The pastor in charge thought that we could use the sermons I already prepared for the church website. Well… I talked with the person who was in charge of the website and apparently all sermons are already uploaded and catalogued in a data base… However, I had a look at the website and there is some work that could be done. Some sermons are not accessible, some series could be replaced by a newer version and the sermon information could be standardized. I would have to get access to the website as well as to the data base, but I worked with websites in the past and liked it. So that might be my next project.
Family News
- Potty Training Yuna: Since it is only warm during a very short time, we thought it would be a good opportunity to potty train Yuna. We started her on the “no pants” method with a sticker page and little chocolates as rewards. She had a lot of accidents in the beginning, but she is making progress. Our goal is to have her in panties and leggings by the time it gets cold.
- New Home for Samson: Samson has found a new home on the ranch of our friends. He has a place to sleep in a shed and can go outside whenever he wants. Apparently, he is very happy there, gets along well with the two dogs and greets the family members when they come out of the house. The mother told me that Samson is perfect for the place, which makes us very happy.
- Trip to the US: For our 10th anniversary, we (Chris and Anja) went to the US to thrift, buy some necessities that are not available in Mexico and check out Victoria’s Secret. The last time we were the US was in January 2020… We were shocked by the prices at Subway ($24 for half a sandwich combo for both of us), Cinnabun and Jamba Juice ($40 for two small juices, a coffee and 4 little cinnamon rolls)! However, we were very happy with our finds in the thrift stores and we were able almost everything to get what we wanted. We really enjoyed our day and the kids did too, according to their two babysitters.
- A Guitar for a Friend: We had a raffle at church and Anja noticed that one of the prices was a guitar. She already has one, but she remembered that one of her friends mentioned that she had been looking for an affordable one. Anja thought, Lord, if I win this guitar, I will give it to (name). She and Chris bought a ticket, both in Anja’s name and Anja really did win the guitar! Anja never wins anything. Anja’s friend was super excited and felt very blessed when she told her the news. God is good!
