Trip to Switzerland

It was crazy how the Lord had arranged everything for us! We received our passports on December 17th, found a “cheap” flight the same day and were able to get everything organized and ready during the busiest season of the entire year!

Chris was able to entrust the light ministry to one of the interns with amazing leadership skills (also one of God’s provisions). Anja asked the most loyal Fit 2 Serve attendant, if he would like to become a trainer and he agreed – also to take over the Roadshow during our vacation. One of the church’s pastors and Chris’ friend agreed to take over our Sunday school class. And last but not least, we knew our friends would stay at our place taking care of Abby.

Our Senior Pastor, Mike Vincent, even prayed with us after the service on the 24th, before we headed to the airport. Unfortunately, we could not fly out that day. The previous night, it had been very foggy so that no plane had been able to leave. The airport was extremely crowded, flights delayed, etc. total Chaos! To cut the long story short, our flight got cancelled and we were given the same flights, but a day later. We spent 8 hours at the airport, only to return home with our luggage. At least Abby was happy to see us 😉

On the 25th, everything went smoothly and we flew to Mexico City, where we had to get our passports stamped because we were leaving the country. From there we flew to Paris where we arrived an hour early, which meant 5 hours layover instead of 4… and then we arrived in Zurich, where our parents and Chris’ sister and her husband were waiting for us. We were just glad to arrive after a 24 hour journey!

It was difficult for the kids to adjust to the new time zone and we had to get up in the middle of the night to feed them or waiting until we could put Yuna back to sleep. However, they warmed up quite fast to all of our family members and we spent every day either visiting one of them or doing something they had never done before, like visiting the cows in the stable.

Goodbye ’22

Wow, what a year! Of course there were ups and downs, but there is SO MUCH to be thankful for and that the Lord just provided!

We got our permanent residency cards. Yuna has a Swiss passport. We found a new place to live and a dog that loves our children and doesn’t bark too much. Chris was able to train a couple of people on the lights and install the light controller that he had been programming on for A LONG time in Matzatlan. Anja lost a Fit 2 Serve coach and found a new one. We were able to complete another semester of church planting class and apply what we have been learning in our Sunday school class. A lot of children gave their lives to the Lord during those classes, sometimes even when we thought no one was listening.

This is also the time where we would like to thank every single one of you who has been supporting us in one way or the other – prayer, getting our mail, financial aid, clothes, hospitality, spending time with us, etc. We have been blessed by all of you and we pray that the Lord will bless you a hundred fold for everything you have invested into us. Thank you so much, your support means A LOT.

Hello ’23

What the new year will bring? Well… we will enjoy the rest of our stay in Switzerland with friends and family and head back to Mexico on January 22nd. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to bring as much chocolate across as we know would be appreciated… We know that the Lord has a lot in store of us as a family and we are curious to see what this new year will bring.

Prayer Requests

  • for health (backs Chris and Anja, teething Yuna)
  • for the rest of our trip in Switzerland (for divine appointments – also with potential sponsors, ministry opportunities, a good time with friends and family, the kids to make great memories and build relationships with our families)
  • for a save trip back to Mexico on the 22th and 23rd of January and a quick adjusting
  • for salvation for our music blasting neighbor
  • for faithful attendees for Fit 2 Serve
  • for the kids in our class to get saved
