Light Ministry
December is one of the busiest times of the year for the light ministry. We had a lot of events planned! Luckily, one of my team members stepped up and helped a lot with the events and even did the Christmas presentation (theater/music) all by himself. I was there to help if necessary, but he even managed to do the more complicated parts and surprised me with that.
On the down side, we again lost two team members. Please pray for God to bring new and faithful servants.
Sunday School Christmas Celebration
Anja was teaching the last Sunday school lesson before Christmas. Apart from doing the regular teaching, each teacher was asked to celebrate Christmas with the kids and talk to them about what Christmas is all about. Anja brought sodas and chocolate Panettone, an Italian Christmas sweet bread originally made with candied fruit. Most kids enjoyed the Panettone, some even came to get seconds. Each kid also received a backpack with toys, candies, stationaries, toiletries and other things. Anja’s highlight however was that three girls received Jesus as their Lord and Savior – what a perfect Christmas gift!

We enjoyed good food, got to know each other at the table by playing the “What is your favorite number? Now tell me that amount of interesting facts about you” game, listened to an interesting message about new year’s resolutions and had fun during the raffle. It was also the first time that the band played together. We had a couple of hiccups, but everyone gave their best and all the ladies sang along. All in all, it was a wonderful evening.
Family
- Christmas Celebrations: Like every year, there were a lot of Christmas celebrations we had and wanted to attend. There were celebrations from the ministries we are serving in, an English speaker’s Christmas celebration and the staff Christmas party. We ate lots of good food and played a couple of white elephant gift exchanges. Chris was super happy to get a mac keyboard and Ziva was excited to get Pastor Mike’s book “The Church Planting Hub”, thinking it was a bible. Anja won a t-shirt in one of the raffles, size large, which was perfect for Chris.

- Family Vacation: After a busy month, Chris decided to take a week off work so we could spend time as a family. We had a lot of ideas what we could do, but a lot of them didn’t seem to work out for one reason or the other – one of them being the kids getting sick. However, we played games together, went on walks around the neighborhood, took the kids to playgrounds as well as to jump & fly. We also found time to go on a long date to enjoy some sushi (Anja’s made sure hers was cooked, of course) and ice cream followed by some browsing through a second hand store.
