Enjoying Switzerland
The time in Switzerland was a blessing. We received so much love, hospitality, clothes, electronics and food (we gained about 5kg each…) from all sides. We had to buy an extra suitcase to be able to take everything with us and even then, we had to make it fit. The girls enjoyed meeting our families and friends, of which some have kids their age, and they have become a lot more social. They were able to make new experiences, like going to IKEA, walking through a forest or in the snow, holding an icicle, building a snowman, ice skating and swimming in an indoor pool (the last three only Ziva).
It was nice not having to cook, clean or watch the kids at all times for once. Everyone was making a big effort to provide for our needs, to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. We were able to go on two dates and to have two additional nights out without having to organize a lot, which was great!
At this point, we would like to thank every single one of our friends and family members for all the support, provision, hospitality and love. We are truly grateful and we pray that God will bless you abundantly for every single thing you have given to us. We left blessed and heavy (suitcases and bodies ;-))

Returning to Mexico
The journey back was quite an adventure. We could not check in online, even after talking with the airline over the phone and it took them a while to be able print Yuna’s boarding pass at the airport. On the flight to Madrid, we had to wear face masks. In Madrid, we were not able to get any water from any of the wending machines for some reason and we had to walk 20min to our next gate late at night.
Bye bye Zurich Ready to board the plane to Madrid Off to Mexico City
In Mexico City, we thought we would have to stand in the long line to go through immigration and then would have to get our luggage, have it scanned and checked in again, which would have taken A LOT of time. However, an employee was asking who had flights at a certain time and after we showed him our boarding pass, he led us straight to one of the immigration booths and we could go through! And our airline told us that our luggage would be transferred to Tijuana and that we would not have to do anything!
The last flight was just nerve wrecking because everyone was so tired and Yuna didn’t want to sit still anymore. We were all just glad to finally arrive! However, it was fairly easy to adjust back home. The kids slept through in no time without ever waking up at odd hours and we were back to our usual schedule in no time.
It’s a Boy!
On January 28th, at 1pm, a light ginger kitten came running towards Anja and the kids as they were about to go on a walk. There was no other cat in sight and since the neighbor didn’t know anything about it either, we decided to take him in. He is still all skin and bones and his amber colored eyes are infected, but he is eating, drinking and (mostly) using the litter box. We decided to call him Samson and hope that he will get better soon.
Prayer Requests
- for health (backs Chris and Anja, teething Yuna, eye infection Abby, general health Samson)
- for salvation for our music blasting neighbor
- for faithful attendees for Fit 2 Serve
- for the kids in our class to get saved
