Light Projects

It’s been a full month of moving and other family activities, within which Chris had to finish the light projects in the Pillars’ and youth room. In order to be able to complete them, he was not only at church on Saturdays, but on Monday afternoons too to get all the work done.

Spotify Project

For the last months, Anja had been was working on downloading old sermons, cutting off unwanted parts in the beginning and the end and making two parts out of each. However, the lead of the project got handed over to the worship ministry leader who only wants recent series on Spotify. In other words, he only wants two out of the 15 series that Anja already cut on Spotify… On the bright side, he was able to organize the intro and outro that we need to add to each series and he already completed and uploaded one series. The question is though, what exactly Anja wiIl be doing in the future. Since she is only working on Friday afternoons, she won’t be able to help with the latest episodes because they should be ready and uploaded as soon as possible, so either Sunday/Monday or Wednesday/Thursday.

Family News

  • Medical Check-Ups Chris and Anja: Chris hadn’t been feeling well. We went to a doctor, who ordered a blood test. The results were quite alarming. Chris’ triglyceride level was on 364 instead of 150, which means that the amount of fat in his blood is very high. The doctor was even concerned about his heart and prescribed a no sugar / no fat / no carb diet. At around the same time, Anja went to the gynecologist for a check-up. In the process of the examination he discovered a cyst on the right ovary.

  • Car Trouble: We lent our car to one of our friends for an emergency. While he was driving, the oil level kept dropping and rising, so he took the car to a mechanic and lent us his Jeep for a couple of days. Our friend replaced the oil sensor and gave us our car back.

  • Move: We moved from the South East of Rosarito to the North East, a bit more than a 20 min drive, depending on traffic. Our new area is called Colinas De Aragon. The house is unfurnished, but the Lord blessed us with a lot of lent furniture (3 couches, a coffee table, a dining room table with six chairs, a bunk bed, 2 shelves) and some gifted one (a plastic picnic bench for the kids, a TV). There are still a lot of boxes sitting around, but we all like it here.
  • Abby and Samson: We were able to find a new owner for Abby. They have a big yard and another dog as well as a girl that looked Ziva’s age. Abby seemed to like the people when they came, so we decided to give Abby to them. Unfortunately, we now also have been asked to find a new home for Samson, which we did not expect. We had been told that we can keep him, but they thought he was an indoor cat, which he is not.

  • Vacation Bible School: This was the first year, Ziva could participate in our church’s VBS and she enjoyed every single day. We brought some headphones for her to put on when it was getting too loud for her, which seemed to help.
  • Ziva Has Earrings: For her birthday, Ziva wanted earrings. It took a bit of finding out where to do them because in Mexico, the baby girls usually get pierced after birth in the hospital. We ended up going to a piercer, which meant Ziva had to hold still twice. We had told her that it would be hurting and had asked her repeatedly if she really wanted the earrings and she kept saying yes.  During the procedure, Ziva was watching Paw Patrol, which helped distracting her. Anja even thought she was fine after the first earring because she was sitting so still, only to find out, she was actually crying. However, she was doing a very good job holding still and letting the piercer do his job. We are very proud of her.
